So, besides the music stuff going on in my life.

We have put in a notice to move out by the 30 of this month and still don't have a place to move too. My kid was in the paper, it was a rather cute pick of him at the famers Market with me. Oh yeah. I work for a farm at a few markets around town, one thats twice a week downtown and one thats in the east valley. I love gettting all the fresh produce that I want for free. :P

I have started writing again. I think most of that is from Cairisrin and her book endevor. SHe has greatly inspired me. So, I am working on a book of poetry. I have also been working alot on arranging music for the group.

The only other interesting stuff in my life happens on line. Otherhalf and I spend a lot of time in EQ2, it is cheaper then going out and right now we need that. Hopfully in the new year we will have a new place to live, he will have a new job, and my music stuff will be going good. I am looking forward to doing private lesssons again. :)

Warning, here in lies a rant and rambles. If you want a reason for the post jump all the way down to the PS. :) Thank you.

Wow, I can really have my stupid moments. And to most of the outside world this would be one of them. To those who understand costuming you will understand.

For the last ten years I have been dreaming about a musical group that has nine women. Yes you heard me right. Nine women. The premise of this group was to get me not only back into playing my music, but to also get me back into playing at Renfaires and the like. I love performing and I really missed it. I finally have the opportunity to get started with this group and now I have come to the great and wonderful task of creating the costume.

A little about the group. We are called the Pierides. If you remember any of your greek mythology you will certianly remember the Muses. The lovely and wonderful nine sisters, who could turn terrible in the face of an idiot that tried to challenge them. There are stories of people being turned blind and deaf after losing horribly to the Muses. Orignially I actually thought about calling the group the muses, but after googling it a few times I realized that it had been used way to much lately. So I dug a little deeper and found this other group of sisters. They were the daughters of a wealthy king who constantly boasted about his daughters ability, (I have his name written somewhere...) It came to the Muses attention. Now here the story gets a little fuzzy, but basically the daughters lose and the Muses taking pity on them turned them in to birds. (Part of how the worlds birds came about mythos.)

So I have taken this story and compounded on it. Basically, I have stated that The Muses think that the world is losing its creativity and the Muses have asked us to help spread more of it through out the world.

I have to state now that I am not going for historical accuracy, but something that could pass at a renfaire or at a wedding. I have been knee deep in trying to come up with good designs and trying maybe not please everyone in the group, but at least hear what they all have to say.

My original idea was to have 9 renassiance period costumes that were basically identical, but each one would be its own monochromatic color. Someday I still want to work with these costumes. But today, we are all poor and half of use have families to support or stay at home moms. So, it needs to be cheapish, versital, and have a high wear, cause we live in the desert and faire season hits 100F +.

I have narrowed things down to just three colors. Burgandy, green and blue. I would prefer to use a real red as that would have been more greek, but our royalty wears that and I didn't want to have confruntations there.

Then sadly after much research so far the best basic style pattern that I have found is a regency dress. I will have to modify a lot of the pattern, but I think it will look good. And will have the almost timeless look I am going for.

I finally found one really good linen store to buy the fabric I want online. The next two issues are that I have to change the burgandy color to this almost plum color (I happen to really like it). Adn that everyone in the group is to afraid that white linen is going to be too see though to wear as an underdress. So I am off again to find a different fabic that everyone else wont dig their heels in against.

Now the big problem is that I really want to use linen and I am having a hard time finding a place online that has all four colors that I am looking for! AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Oh well. I will work on this! :) Thanks for reading my little rant.

PS
does anyone know of a good linen source online store?

Oh my. Life has beena little weird. I would say crazy, but that hasn't seemed to fit either. It's not hectic, but it seems like it. Otherhalf has taken the rest of the week off and that has thrown me off. My day off got switched and  that threw me off as well. Oh well. Life goes on and I can put things on hold because of it. I need to get my butt in gear and get things going.

Goals

To exercise more
make more money
take extra money and buy healthy stuff for me.
write more
keep the house clean

I think I'm going to be adding to this list as time goes on.

Seven things that make me happy right now

1. Thursday night girls night. Just the girls sitting around and drooling over very hot guys!

2. playing my music and being inspired once again. I am even thinking of trying out for one of the symphonys near by. I'm a little nervous by this fact but I think that if I can get some good practicing in I might be ready for it for the next season. I really miss being in a symphony. And I think that I might try and get some of my contacts together again and see about starting another group. I am also really tempted to go back to playing out at the Renfaire. I so truly miss it!

3. My family being healthy. I know a little cheesey for this time of year, but bad things are happening to those around me. My sweet neighbor is dieing of cancer. They don't think she'll make it to Thanksgiving.

4. Reading to my hearts content. I finally got off my ass and got a library card. O and I go tothe library almost once a week.

5. Mostly being over the stupid virus that has been plagueing my body for over a week. A week with hives and still being on drugs is not fun. Stupid drugs didn't completely work.

6. Mostly being over the withdrawl from the said drugs. I can't stand not being in control of my person. [info]cairisrin thought it was a little weird being out with me when we went out to dinner the other night. Normally I am the type to sit in a corner so I can see all exits and I totally pay attention to all that is going on around me. That night I sat in the middle of wendy's and totally missed some of what was going on. The weird part was I was thinking to my self that this is odd and why am I sitting here. It didn't feel right, and yet I coudn't get my self to move. Very unsettling.

7. Sex. Is there really anything more to say after this?

Seven things that I should be more ashamed of

1. Jensen Ackles. I am so obsessed right now. But he is SO hot! and I really love Supernatural! Thats what girls night is all about!

2. I have to admit to being a ANTM junkie. Truly. I say its because I love the pictures at the end. AAnd while I really do love seeing the pictures I lvoe the behind the camera work and seeing what the girls go through.

3. www.fanfiction.net I sit most of the day and read there as well. I'm ignoring my kitchen.

4. My 3 year old son has his own computer and can pull up playhouse disney and nick jr all by himself. He spends hours sitting next to me playing while I am reading online.

5. Radio Disney. I still listen to it even if my son isn't around.

6. frozen kit kats that my son got for samhain

7. D&D. Granted this is how I met my man of the last five and a half years.

Ah it as so wonder full. NOT! The one good thing is as of this minute I have had a good five hours of sleep. Why, do you ask is that a good thing? Because in the last week and a half I had maybe two hours of scattered sleep. Insomnia sucks! And whats worse I didn't get anything done. I didn't work on cleaning my kitchen, well ok I tried.  That wasn't going to happen. I tried a few times to get some dishes done, but I broke plates and gave my self a few heart attacks after dropping just about everything in sight. I even got my self banished from the kitchen at one point by OH. (He had just opened a nice good sized bottle of sweet relish and some how I missed the counter, or maybe I hit the counter, and said bottle ended up shattering at my feet. After the three tries to clean it up I gave up and went to the bathroom and proceeded to pick glass out of my ankles.) After all of that I decided that it wasn't worth trying to clean to perfection right now. I am taking the 'clean what I need at the moment' route. (I really miss having a dishwasher!)

I tried to get some writing done. I have done very little. The good part is that my forced exile to the couch (The place where I can conceivably do the least damage) has left me with lots of introspective time. In other words I have been plotting and planning. And I have been putting on my mask and cape of research girl extraodinaire. (Did you know that the Salem witch trials were nothing compared to the atrocities that were inflicted upon people that lived in the germany area?) So at the moment I have a little Fanfic done, almost finished with another one, both of them being short one shots. I have a longer one in the works and I am working on an original (Hence most of the research). I am also attempting to keep up with the writing of my poetry. I am excited for Friday as [info]cairisrinand I are going on an all day adventure of hitting used books stores! I love days like that.

Samhain was good. Orion looked really cute as a pirate. Got some decent candy before getting way too tired. But gave me a preview for next year, not sure if I will be able to keep up then. He tried so hard to keep up with the older kids. At least a good time was had by all. I have pictures but stil trying to get OH to find the program to download them from camera into my computer (It may take another year).

Happy New year to those it is. Now its the long haul of introspective until Yule!

So a good friend of mine is moving to Okinawa to teach our militaries' children. (Its really a little more involved, she's an early intervetionist, which means newborn to 3 special ed. Basically). She had a 3 year old dog that needs a home. We had been talking about getting a dog. So after a few questions about her and what not we have decided to take her. She has come with the name Ella but the kiddo thinks he wants to call her either dog or Lola (From disney's Charlie and Lola) He briefly thought about Lilo but decided he couldn't say it well enough. As soon as she walked in the door kiddo asked if she was his. We said yes. Kiddo immediatly to hold of the leash and he and the dog went outside to play. Then when anyone was near he said my doggie.

Later that evening we had to go out to the going away party for said friend. At the house with the party there was 2 doggies as well. Kiddo was happyily playing with them forr a little bit then asked to go to home to his doggie.

ITs funny even though we have 2 cats in the house you can tell that we are all dog people. We are having a little trouble with the cats, but nothing to terrible. One fight was kind of my fault for letting the dog in the bedroom, which is the cats sanctuary. All was ok until She, the dog, went to lay down in the closet. Bad move for Tigger. Thats one of His spots. So an almost asleep me had to break up the fight and put up the baby gate to kept the dog out of the room. Figured the dog can have free run of kiddo's room since the cats aren't aloud.

hum, I have never taken any for of sewing lessons ever. And I am really thinking about doing it so I can learn some techniques that I jsut can't seem to get from a book.

The first thing I ever made was a renassiance over skirt. It was out of a blue uphoulstery material. Strangly my mother said she would help me, but I got started with out her. She came out of her room and was angery because I had it half done and I was pinning the pleats. I was eyeballing it and she told me it would be way off. IT was only 1/8th of an inch off. The first cast day I got a lot of compilments on that skirt, jsut not the rest of the outfit. :P I still have and love that skirt. Not that I wear anymore. :P

I agree that drafting patterns is fun. And its just better when you can't find anything good enough for what you are trying to do.

I utterly cheated makeing some performance costumes for my trio. I made all three gowns in two days. (Once our scanner is working I will post a pic of all three.) They looked it, but we were on stage mostly. :P And strangly we got a lot of complimetns on them.

When making renassiance bodices I absolutly love to make them reversable. ITs another cheat I like to use. Gives them more stability, and gives me more variety to choose from.

I did not finish a costume on time that was needed for stage, so I sewed my self into it. I really hated waiting for some one to cut me out of it.

I have had half of a renaissance costume stolen. And it was the bottom half. I stil have the reversable bodice that went with it.

THREE THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:

1. COWS

2. THE CONSTITUTION, and

3. THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

COWS
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that our government can track a cow born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give them all a cow.

THE CONSTITUTION
They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq.
Why don't we just give them ours?
It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it's worked for over 200 Years and we're not using it anymore.

TEN COMMANDMENTS
The real Reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments in a Courthouse........
You cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery" And "Thou Shall Not Lie"
in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians --
It creates a hostile work environment.

Maybe it's a political idea, religious, social, or just something funny that happened to you today. Maybe its something you know a great deal about - a real authority on the subject - or maybe its just something you think others should know about. Whatever it is, its important to you, but how important is it really, when you won't even take the time to let others hear about it, or what you have to say about it?

Were you shocked by what you saw or read? Were you outraged? Inspired? Humbled? Excited? Are you really content to let your passions pitter away because you don't want to "waste" the time to share them? You know, that is exactly why there is so much in the world many of us can disagree with - because most people never speak up. Maybe they are ashamed to admit some things are important to them. Maybe they don't really think its important to anyone else, but never speak out to discover if others share their views.

The truth is that everyone has a voice, and the opportunity to speak up, and be heard. The ideas you could share may inspire and help others; The news you pass may help make a difference in your communities, and you never know who might be listening... You can make a difference. You have countless opportunities to do so everyday. In some cases, you have the opportunity to speak up on behalf of those who really can't, for whatever reason, and become their champions, their voice in the world. But what does any of this mean if you don't speak, share, and open your words for everyone to read?

Again... What's important to you? And just how important is it?

blogxero.com is committed to preserving your right to speak up and speak out; To creating and maintaining an environment where you can share your ideas, opinions, and beliefs without fear of censorship. Share a recipe or start a revolution - they are there to support you in spreading your words...

But even if you don't speak up on blogxero.com, speak up somewhere, and everywhere. Take advantage of every tool made available to you to share what is important and meaningful in your own life. Make the effort to make a difference - even if it is in only one life, in even a relatively minor way, it is still meaningful and good.

If you think speaking up is important, pass this on... reply, grab the code, and repost with the same subject.

nothing much to report. Went out and had a great time with some friends last night and say MI3. I really enjoyed it. And had a lot of fun talking with them. Its been too long.

My allergies are horrendous today. And its making me tired and I really don't want to do anything. And I really want to take a benadryl but I know that will make things worse. Though with it being almost nap time I just might and lay down to take a nap as well. But I have at least washed most of my dishes and started laundry. Though I have put that on hold because of the wasps. There are 3 of them buzzing around in the laundry room. When it gets cool tonight I will finish that.

So yesterday I was over at a friends houise doing a Mary Kay party and when I went into the bathroom she had a digital scale. So I plucked up my curage and got on it. I have lost 10lbs since my sergery. I am very happy about this. I know it could be a lot better, but it has inspired me to work even harder. Last night I went and did a little grocery shopping and I got a lot of healthy and filling snacks for my self.

So things have been interesting the last few days. I made my first MK order last night. And then today some one who made a $200 order decided to cancel it until the end of May. So I don't know what to do now. I'm waiting for my director to call me.

Otherwise things have been pretty good. When I was at Melanie's doing a MK party I stepped onto her digital scale and I found out that I have lost 10 pounds. So that has me happy. And when I did some grocery shopping last night I bought a lot of good foods for me to snack on, since that is one of my greatest vises. And I also got a lot of chicken and tuna.
